My West Cornwall - Louise Batty, Digital Marketing

Whether you enjoy long coastal walks along the rugged Cornish landscape, learning what seaweed is edible while foraging on a tidal island or eating locally landed fish - we have plenty to keep you busy in West Cornwall. Here are Louise's favourites!

Favourite Beach: That's a tough one as the area has so many amazing ones  - Perranuthnoe is definitely up there, as it has many memories and I LOVE the Cabin Beach Cafe, but I'd definitely recommend Gwynver, as it's beautiful, and Gwithian. One of my favourites is staying under wraps though, but you may discover it yourself when out near the Tin Coast.

Favourite Activity: Getting out on the South West Coast Path with my family and friends. It has been my dad's mission to complete the Cornish part of the coast path before he retires, and we are almost there! I've also just set myself the task of getting in the sea all through the year, so I'm pretty lucky to work right on the beach, as I can often go for a swim on my lunch break.

Favourite Walk: All of them! Botallack to Zennor if I would have to choose - it really shows off the rugged coastline, Cornwall's mining past, and is quite challenging at times, but it's worth it for the views... oh, and a few great pub stops, such as The Gurnard's Head and The Tinner's.

Favourite Gallery: Penlee House Gallery and Museum - it showcases West Cornwall art from the late 19th and early 20th century, including work from the ‘Newlyn School’ and Lamorna Group artists, as well as a museum that has a collection covering 6000 years of the area's history.

Favourite Event: Any of the events that take place on St Michael's Mount - from the foraging to rock pooling, I've been lucky enough to go to a lot of their events and have always really enjoyed them!

Favourite Sunset and storm-watching spot: For sunsets, probably Cape Cornwall or Land's End, and storm watching, Sennen Cove.

Favourite Pub: My local is The Bath Inn in Penzance, which is great for a pint and watching rugby and football. I've also come across The Unicorn on the Beach, which has a great selection of food and is right near the beach.

Favourite Café: I've just recently stumbled across it, but Sandy Acres in Hayle which has great coffee and cakes, but I'd also recommend keeping an eye on what Pica Rico Cafe is going to get up to this year and The Old Forge Lelant!

Favourite Restaurant: The Shore Restaurant, without a doubt. I love all seafood and Bruce Rennie's tasting menus are another level. Don't just take my word for it, he won the Trencherman's 2020 Award for Best Restaurant in the South West. Amazing flavours, perfectly cooked fish and an amazing wine list!

Favourite Pasty Shop: Hampson's of Hayle. Shortcrust pastry and the perfect amount of steak!

Favourite Cream Tea: 'Hole Foods Deli in Mousehole and Porthgwarra Cove Cafe - jam first of course!
